Luna Park Events - A Time To Remember

In our sixth year of hosting the Austin Cocktail Throwdown, we decided to hire an event planner. Richard’s services were invaluable to us as we prepared for, executed and cleaned up the event. His personal attention to detail and relationships with vendors saved us time and money. We didn’t have to spend time researching which vendors would work, or worry that we’d hire someone that would leave us hanging. In addition, on-site, Richard is a machine. He’s on top of everything, and handles sudden challenges with a level head and endless resourcefulness.

Richard is thoroughly organized, resourceful and thoughtful. With his help, our event ran like clockwork. Even our attendees commented on our event planner — always the sign of a great, behind-the-scenes person.

Richard delivered a perfect event. He is incredibly attentive and knowledgeable. I am a very organized person who gets things accomplished and Richard is that too and more so that impressed me tremendously.

You inevitably will be pleased and relieved.

I have had the pleasure of working with Richard Williams during the Austin Gay and Lesbian International Film Festival (aGLIFF). I am currently the Vice-President - Board of Directors for aGLIFF, and have worked closely with Richard in his role as the Hospitality Director for the organization. Richard planned and executed many events: meet and greets for filmmakers, brunches, cocktail parties, the Opening Night Party at City Hall, Centerpiece Film Party at Arthouse at the Jones Center, and Closing Night Party at the Austin Museum of Art. At each of these events, Richard worked with a diverse group of vendors and volunteers - and was able to create an amazing setting for our events. We could not have accomplished such great events, without the capable talents of Mr. Williams.

When it comes to putting together an event, it is all in the details. From the guest list, the atmosphere, to the food served, you can count on Richard to plan and execute every detail.

I would like to take a few moments and share with you my wonderful experience working with Luna Park Events and Richard Williams.

My name is Jonathan Shakarisaz and I am the Buyer for Keeper's Clothing on 6th and Congress. My store was recently presented with an offer from the Italian Trade Commission to host a week of events here in Austin, Texas. We were given very little notice and an even less amount of time to execute this production. Richard pulled together his expertise and wonderful resources and saved this event! He helped me locate an extremely talented catering staff, silent auction pieces, helped lobby for donations to the benefiting charity (Heart House Austin), and most importantly he kept everyone sane and on track for success. I believe that a large amount of this success is due solely to Richard and his wonderful network of friends who support him and whom he supports. I am honored to of had the experience working with him and look forward to the next big event Keepers Clothing will produce in conjunction with Luna Park Events. Richard is always professional, possesses excellent communication skills and is very task oriented. He always offers up suggestions to improve on existing ideas and in essence has shown me that even the most impossible task can be accomplished with enough determination... even if you only have 3 weeks to accomplish it in. HAHA!

Warmest Texas Regards,

Jonathan Shakarisaz

It is with particular pleasure to write this letter of recommendation on behalf of Richard L. Williams II whom I have known for two years.

I worked with Richard on a special events project in December 2007 for AIDS Services of Austin (ASA). Richard's commitment to worthy non-profit causes, his drive and organization ability, combined with his experience and understanding of the non-profit community, make him an excellent candidate for a special events position or special events contractor.

Richard has been an incredible resource and asset to ASA as a whole. I observed him work independently with his team members, staff and other key volunteers at ASA. Richard is able to facilitate group process and communicate honestly, with the utmost professionalism - His leadership, energy and contagious enthusiasm stewarded ASA through a very successful fundraiser exceeding all of our expectations and budget goals.

It has been my pleasure to work with Richard. I would hire him again and again. Richard L. Williams II is an outstanding colleague and it is without hesitation that I provide this recommendation.

Sincerely,

As a manager in the hectic and always booming Warehouse District in Austin, it is always important to know someone. Richard Williams began in my phonebook as simply a friend, but quickly moved into speed dial as I was introduced to his unlimited supply of savvy business tactics, great networking abilities, and most importantly-event planning. He and I have worked together for over 5 years, and he has always delivered. When I thought an event could not be more hectic, he showed time and time again a relentless level of composure and leadership, and has never had an event that I was not proud to add to my resume. I would recommend with Richard L. Williams II to anyone and always drop what I am doing when he calls when he has anything on the table. He is that much of a pleasure to work with.

My name is Daniel Northcutt, Operations Manager for Starlite Restaurant, Woodland Restaurant and Club De Ville and co-owner of Bar Towel Productions. Over my career I have worked with an incredible amount of organizer's and festival producers. To say the least, some are definitely a little easier to work with than others. I had the grand pleasure of working closely with Richard L. Williams II for 2007's aGLIFF (Austin Gay and lesbian International Film Festival), one of Austin's largest film festivals.

In the end, because of both Richards' passion for this festival and his networking skills, we came on as location hosts with The Woodland and Club DeVille as well as food sponsors with The Woodland, Starlite and Lambert's restaurants. Richard coordinated multiple parties that involved or included either our property, food or both. The overall production of the multiple parties that accompanied this event was handled impeccably, due in large part to Richard's wonderful communication and meticulous planning. Anything that we were a part of that involved Richard was a great success and incredibly smooth on our end. That is key to a restaurants' continued support of like projects because you have to keep in mind that while we are off property at a function, our restaurant's still have to be in motion. In other words, if an organizer gets us involved in an event off property and does not have the smallest of details in order, it can throw a major wrench in our overall business for the night as we are trying to prepare specialty foods on top of our nightly faire. I can honestly say that in the future, if I am approached with an opportunity and have the time/resources I would go out of my way to work with Richard L. Williams II again!

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
Daniel Northcutt

I am writing to recommend Richard Williams II, the owner of Luna Park Events. I have trusted Richard with all my company events for the past 3 years.

I recently resigned as the Sales Director and National Brand Manager for Charbay Winery & Distillery, a 13th generation house in Napa Valley, California. I have opened my brand management-consulting firm, Impressa. In my position I spent almost 50% of my time on the road and was often not at home in Austin to supervise our events. I now represent 4 clients who have special event needs. Richard is the one I trusted and trust to help me plan and execute all our endeavors.

The quality I most admire and count on in Richard is his experience with detail. As my strengths lie in sales, marketing, and brand development, I must have colleagues around me that can see to every detail. I represent and represented high-end brands whose image needs to be presented in a manor that reflects their values and quality. I can always count on Richard to develop specialty features for our events and manage the timing, personnel, and logistics to execute beyond my expectations.

In addition, Richard has a special knack for dealing with the unexpected. From vendors who are not on time or lost, to spectators who are mis-informed or confused, I trust him implicitly.
I feel confident that any business or organization he handles events for will benefit from his personal approach, his experience, and his attention to detail.
